How limits work
Family and Family+ include household AI access subject to fair usage limits. Berg does not promise
unlimited AI processing, and we may adjust internal limits as provider pricing, model behavior, and
plan design change over time.
- Limits apply per household, not per individual member.
- Only household admins can start AI actions.
- Free households do not have access to Berg AI features.
How usage is counted
Berg counts provider-reported token usage for each successful AI request. That includes usage from
schedule import, pantry or inventory scan, recipe import, recipe idea generation, and meal
suggestions.
- Multiple photos or PDF pages in one request generally use more tokens than a single image.
- Longer or more detailed generated results generally use more tokens than shorter ones.
- Manual item creation, manual recipe entry, and other non-AI features do not count toward this policy.
What happens near the limit
Berg may warn, throttle, or temporarily stop new AI requests when a household reaches or exceeds its
current fair usage limits. Existing household data remains available even if new AI requests are
paused for a period of time.
We may change those limits in the future as product behavior, provider pricing, and plan design evolve.
Material changes will be reflected in pricing, terms, or in-product messaging.
Abuse and service protection
Fair usage is separate from anti-abuse enforcement. Berg may limit, suspend, or terminate AI access if
usage is abusive, attempts to bypass controls, threatens service reliability, or violates the Terms of Service.
Privacy and uploaded files
Raw uploads used for Smart Import, Smart Scan, and Smart Recipe are processed for the requested task
and are not retained after processing. Confirmed results such as events, inventory items, shopping-list
drafts you save, or recipes you keep become part of your household data and follow Berg's normal privacy
and deletion rules.
