Who We Are

Berg App is a household coordination service operated by Berg App LLC for shared calendars, reminders, chores, shopping lists, meal planning, optional live location sharing, and related family workflows.

Scope

This policy applies to the Berg App mobile and desktop apps, related websites, authentication flows, customer support interactions, and the hosted services that operate Berg App.

This policy does not apply to third-party services you use separately from Berg App, such as Apple, Google, your mobile platform, or payment processors operating under their own privacy policies.

Information We Collect

• Account and identity information such as email address, sign-in provider, account identifiers, first name, last name, and date of birth or age-band details when needed for setup or child-safety controls.
• Household information such as household name, member role, invite codes, and profile details shared within a household.
• Optional profile photos, timestamps, and parent-managed child-photo consent records when a profile photo is added.
• User-generated content such as calendar items, reminders, shopping lists, chores, recipes, meal plans, pantry items, and related notes or metadata.
• Optional AI inputs that admins choose to submit, such as prompts, uploaded schedule images or PDFs, pantry or fridge scans, recipe photos or PDFs, and recipe text imports.
• Technical and service information such as device information, app version, session metadata, error logs, and security-related authentication records.
• Optional current-location sharing data, including location-sharing preferences, selected tracking-device metadata, precise device location, saved places, and route-history records when the feature is enabled.
• Support and communication information such as waitlist signups, support requests, legal notices, and privacy-rights requests.

How We Collect Information

• Directly from you when you sign in, finish setup, create or edit content, add a profile photo, enable permissions, or contact support.
• From other members of your household when they invite you, assign content, or share content with the household.
• From authentication providers you choose to use, such as Apple or Google.
• From app stores, payment providers, infrastructure vendors, and hosting providers that help us operate the service.
• From your device when you use app features, including optional notifications and optional live location sharing.

How We Use Information

• Authenticate users, protect account security, and recover access when needed.
• Create and manage households and household membership.
• Provide sync, storage, and shared household features across planning, meals, and live location.
• Provide optional AI-assisted imports, drafting, and meal-planning suggestions that household admins explicitly request.
• Send launch, beta, and product updates that you explicitly request.
• Troubleshoot, maintain, improve, and support the service.
• Comply with legal obligations and enforce product terms, policies, and security controls.

Berg App does not sell personal information and does not use personal information for third-party advertising, data brokerage, or cross-context behavioral advertising.

Sign-In Providers

When you sign in with a third-party provider, Berg receives the information that provider shares for authentication and account setup. Depending on the provider and permissions granted, that may include your name, email address, and provider account identifiers.

If a provider does not supply all required setup information, Berg may ask you to provide the rest during onboarding.

Household Sharing

Berg is designed for shared household use. Information entered into household features may be visible to other members of the same household when that visibility is part of the core product experience.

• Shared calendars, reminders, chores, lists, meal plans, recipes, and pantry information can be visible within the household.
• Optional profile photos are shown only inside the same household workspace.
• If live location sharing is enabled, only household members allowed to see that information can view the current state.

AI Features and Live Location

Berg's AI tools are optional and start only when a household admin requests them. They are designed for schedule imports, pantry or fridge capture, recipe drafting, and meal suggestions.

• AI actions return drafts first so the admin can review, edit, or discard results before saving.
• Raw files submitted for Smart Import, Smart Scan, and Smart Recipe are processed for the requested task and are not retained after processing.
• Berg stores only the structured results you confirm, such as events, recipes, inventory items, or meal entries.
• Live location sharing is optional, off by default, and can be paused or disabled.
• In the current version, iPhone and iPad can act as tracking devices. Mac can view household location state but does not upload live location points.

Service Providers

Berg may share information with vendors that help run the product, such as hosted authentication and database providers, infrastructure and hosting vendors, payment or subscription providers, and AI-processing providers used to fulfill an AI feature you request.

We require service providers to process personal information only for authorized purposes and under appropriate contractual safeguards.

Data Retention

Berg retains personal information only for as long as reasonably necessary to provide the service, maintain security and operational records, comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce agreements.

• Household content is retained while the account or household remains active, unless deleted sooner by a user with the appropriate permissions.
• Current profile photos are stored privately for household use and removed when the photo or account is deleted.
• Live location history follows plan-based retention windows, with shorter retention on lower tiers.
• Current live-location snapshots are removed when sharing is turned off or paused.
• Support, legal, and security records may be retained longer where reasonably necessary for compliance or incident handling.

User Choices and Controls

• Sign out of the app.
• Connect supported sign-in methods to the same account over time.
• Add, replace, or remove your own profile photo from Settings on iPhone or iPad.
• Export current household data from Settings.
• Delete your account from within the app.
• Pause or disable live location sharing when that feature is enabled.
• Use the public account deletion page for instructions and support routing.

Children and Family Use

Berg is a family coordination service primarily intended for use by parents, guardians, and other adult household administrators. Berg is not intended for children to independently sign up for consumer accounts.

• We do not knowingly allow a child under 13, or under a higher age where local law requires, to independently create an account without required parent or guardian authorization.
• We collect only the child information reasonably necessary to provide the requested family feature.
• We do not sell, advertise with, or use children's information for third-party marketing.
• Where required by law, parents or guardians may review, correct, export, or request deletion of a child's information and may withdraw consent.

In the current product, child accounts cannot independently manage live location sharing, saved-place alerting, or profile photos. Those controls are parent or guardian managed by a household admin.

If you believe a child has provided personal information without the required authorization, contact us so we can investigate and take appropriate action.

Security

Berg uses reasonable administrative, technical, and organizational safeguards to protect personal information. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure.
