Family and Family+ both unlock Berg's AI planning tools. Family works well for smaller households, while Family+ adds more room, longer history, and support around the same AI workflows.

Smart Import
Smart Import turns one or more photos or PDFs into editable calendar drafts. It is especially helpful for the way families actually receive schedules: school handouts, sports season sheets, rehearsal calendars, camp schedules, club PDFs, tournament brackets, and volunteer rosters.
- Choose Take Photo, Choose Photos, or Choose Files.
- Import images and PDFs, with PDFs limited to 5 pages in the current version.
- Combine multiple screenshots, pages, or files into one import when the schedule spans more than one source.
- Tell Berg how you want titles, notes, and defaults to be structured.
- Review, edit, keep, or discard draft events before anything reaches the calendar.
Reusable Prompts
Berg lets admins save repeatable prompt templates for the formats their household sees often.
- Save instructions like how team names, locations, or note fields should be written.
- Reuse the same prompt for recurring school schedules, sports leagues, rehearsal calendars, or activity handouts.
- Keep prompts shared at the household level so admins can build on the same system over time.

Smart Scan helps admins on Family and Family+ turn pantry, fridge, freezer, and shelf photos into structured inventory updates or shopping lists.
- Use one or more photos or PDFs to capture what is already on hand.
- Choose whether to replace inventory, merge and update inventory, or create a shopping list.
- Add one-off instructions such as ignoring spices or focusing on low-stock items.
- Review every suggested item before saving or sending it to a list.
Smart Recipe
Smart Recipe helps admins on Family and Family+ turn recipe cards, cookbook pages, meal photos, PDFs, copied text, and plain-language prompts into recipe drafts.
- Import written recipes from one or more photos, scans, or PDFs.
- Turn loose notes or ingredient lists into a structured recipe.
- Generate recipe ideas from a short prompt and keep only the ones you want.
- Reuse saved prompt templates for a preferred household recipe style.
Smart Plan
Smart Plan helps admins on Family and Family+ create meal suggestions for the next few days without giving up control of the final plan.
- Choose a planning window from 1 to 7 days.
- Use a saved prompt or a one-off instruction like "kid-friendly weeknight dinners" or "use freezer staples first."
- Review and edit each suggested meal entry before saving.
Privacy and Review
- AI actions are opt-in and start only when an admin requests them.
- Raw uploads for Smart Import, Smart Scan, and Smart Recipe are processed for the requested task and are not retained after processing.
- Berg stores only the structured results you confirm, such as events, recipes, inventory items, or meal entries.
- Child accounts do not independently manage AI features.
